# Set Up Your Community

Name your community, decide who can message whom, and gate access by plan.

## Name Your Community

1. In the sidebar, select **Community**.
2. Open **Community settings**.
3. Enter a **Name**. It's required, and members see it, so use the name they'd use for the group rather than an internal label.

## Control Member Messaging

Two switches decide who can start a private conversation:

* **Members can message you** — turn this off when you want questions in the channels rather than your inbox.
* **Members can message each other** — turn this on for peer support and accountability pairs; off when you'd rather keep every conversation visible.

Decide these before you invite anyone. Loosening the rules later is easy; tightening them after members have started private threads is not.

## Gate Access by Plan

By default, the community is open to all members. To restrict it:

1. In **Community settings**, look at **Access**.
2. Select the plans that include community access. Only members on those plans can then reach it.
3. Leave every plan unselected to keep it open to all members.
