# Create a Tracking Goal

Give members something concrete to check in on, so progress stays visible between your sessions.

> **Tracking goals** is available on certain plans and app types. If you don't see it in your sidebar, please check our pricing page for more information.

## Create a Goal

1. In the sidebar, select **Tracking goals**.
2. Add a goal.
3. Enter the **Goal** — the action, not the ambition. "Apply to one role a week" beats "Find a job".
4. Save. Members see their progress on their app Home.

Keep goals to the few actions that actually drive the outcome. Members abandon a list of ten.

## Write Instructions That Settle Arguments

**Instructions** are optional, but they're what stops members guessing.

1. Say how members should check in.
2. Say what counts — and, where it's ambiguous, what doesn't.
3. Keep it to a sentence or two.

For "Apply to one role a week", instructions might rule that a saved draft doesn't count and a submitted application does. Every goal where two members could reasonably disagree deserves this.

## Edit or Delete a Goal

1. Open the goal to change its title or instructions.
2. To remove it, choose the delete action and confirm at **Delete this goal?**.

Editing a goal's instructions is usually better than deleting it — deleting takes the check-in history with it.
