# Pause Your AI and Step Into a Conversation

Stop your AI replying — in one thread or for one client — so you can answer a conversation yourself.

> **Pausing** is available on certain plans and app types. If you don't see the pause control, please check our pricing page for more information.

## Pause One Conversation

1. In the sidebar, select **Insights** (previously Conversations).
2. Open the conversation.
3. Select **Pause AI**.

Your AI stops replying in that thread only. Every other conversation continues as normal, so this is the control for a single conversation that needs you.

## Pause AI for One Client

To take every conversation with one person into your own hands:

1. Open the client from **People**, or from the conversation itself.
2. Select **Pause AI for member**.

This covers all of that client's conversations, not just the thread you were reading. The thread shows as **Paused** so you can tell at a glance why no reply has gone out.

## When to Step In

Pause when the conversation has moved past what your AI should handle:

* A client is upset, or the topic has turned sensitive.
* Money is involved — a refund, a dispute, a bespoke price.
* They're asking for a commitment only you can make.
* Your AI has answered twice and the client is still stuck.

That last one is the signal people miss. Two unhelpful answers is the point to take over, and it also tells you what to add to **Resources** afterwards.

## Resume Your AI

Select **Resume AI** on the conversation, or resume for the client if you paused at that level.

Resume when you're done rather than leaving it paused. A forgotten pause looks identical to an AI that has stopped working, and the client is the one waiting.
