# How Your AI Sounds Like You

What makes your AI feel like you in a conversation — and which setting changes what.

## Name and Identity

The name and photo you set in **Identity & voice** (previously Profile) are what clients see on every message. Once your AI has a name, use it everywhere you talk about them — a consistent identity builds trust faster than a generic chatbot does.

## Voice

A voice sample lets your AI speak in chat with your warmth and pacing. They'll sound directionally like you — the same tone, not an exact replica. **Voice speed** then controls how fast they talk. Voice is optional: your AI works in text without it, and adds spoken replies once you record or upload a sample. ## Tone and Phrasing

Voice is how your AI *sounds*; tone is how they *write*. Word choice, length, and warmth come from **Behavior** — your Primary role sets the overall stance, and Custom rules pin down specifics ("use everyday language", "keep replies short"). If clients say your AI feels off-brand in writing, that's a Behavior change, not a voice one. See [Set Your AI's Primary Role](/help/make-your-ai-answer-well/set-primary-role.md).

## Where Each Setting Lives

* **Identity & voice** — name, photo, voice sample, speaking pace.
* **Behavior** — role, rules, phrasing, boundaries.

Set them alongside each other so how your AI looks, sounds, and writes all reinforce the same identity.
