# Resolve a Google Rejection

Understand why Google Play rejected your app, and what happens next.

## What Happens When Google Rejects

We investigate and make the changes needed, and we'll contact you if we need your input. The aim is to resubmit quickly.

## What Gets Apps Rejected

**Content policy violations.** Google Play enforces its content policies strictly. Hate speech, adult content, and anything promoting violence will be rejected.

**Intellectual property.** Using a trademark, copyrighted work, or patent you don't have the rights to gets the app rejected, and can create a legal problem beyond the rejection.

**Not enough functionality.** Google expects an app to be worth installing. An app with thin content or very limited features can be rejected on that basis alone. Publish real courses before you submit — see [Create a Course](/help/build-your-apps-content/create-a-course.md).

**Misleading metadata.** Your title, description, and screenshots set expectations. If they don't match what the app does, that's a rejection. Describe what clients actually get.

**Platform guidelines.** Google's own requirements change over time — permissions, health and fitness declarations, age ratings, foreground services. The rejection message names the specific one, and that message is more current than any checklist.

**Advertising policy.** Inappropriate or deceptive ads in the app breach Google's advertising policies.

**Contact information.** Incomplete or inaccurate contact details are grounds for rejection on their own. Check yours before submitting — see [Set Up Your App's Basics](/help/run-your-account/set-up-your-app-basics.md).

**Sexual content and profanity.** Explicit content and strong language fall outside Google Play's guidelines.

## FAQ

**Can I appeal?** We handle the appeal. We may come back to you for extra information or clarification to answer the rejection.

**How long does review take?** Usually several days. It runs longer when Google has a high volume of submissions, or when an app needs a closer look.
