# Choose Your App's Shape and Tabs

Decide what leads your app and which tabs members get, so they open it to the thing that matters most.

## See What Leads Your App

1. In the sidebar, select **Design**.
2. Under **What's leading your app?**, compare the four shapes:
   * **Courses** — a catalog of courses to work through. The classic course app.
   * **Path** — one guided journey, where the next step is always obvious.
   * **Community** — the feed is home; discussion leads and courses live inside it.
   * **AI Companion** — the app opens straight into your AI, with no content tabs.
3. Select the one that matches how members should meet your program.

Selecting a shape turns its tab on and keeps it on — **Courses** needs **Learn**, **Path** needs **Tracking**, **Community** needs **Community**. **AI Companion** leads with your AI, so it locks no tab.

Choosing a shape previews how Home is arranged. That preview isn't stored yet, so Studio won't remember which shape you picked the next time you open **Design** — the tab it switched on does stay on.

## Turn Tabs On and Off

Your app has five tabs: **Learn**, **Community**, **Discover**, **Tracking**, and **Profile**. Under **Navigation**, each has a switch.

1. Turn off any tab you're not using. An empty tab costs you more than a missing one.
2. The tab acting as your app's home stays on and its switch is fixed — you can't hide the page members land on.
3. The tab your chosen shape leads with also stays on while that shape leads.
4. Changes save as you make them.

Start with the fewest tabs that cover your program, and add one when you have something to put in it.

## Rename a Tab

Tab titles carry your language, not ours.

1. Select the tab's title under **Navigation**.
2. Type the name your members would use — "Lessons" instead of "Learn", "Check-ins" instead of "Tracking".
3. The new title saves and appears in your app.
